Google to release a new operating system next year.
Google have announced that they are to launch a new operating system in the second half of 2010.
The operating system will be known as “Google Chrome OS”. The open sourced OS will be launched initially as an operating system designer for netbooks with strong rumours circulating that a further OS will be launched afterward for Pc’s.
Google’s previous attempts to create applications has been successful, with the excellent Chrome internet browser and their Mobile OS, “Android” rivalling Apple’s iphone.
To quote the Google Blog “Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web”.
This indicates that a lot of the functionality may well be web based and with the future of networks moving to hosted networks, this is a smart move.
Our IT Support Company has seen an increase in customers asking about alternative operating systems. Could Chrome OS be the alternative everyone has been waiting for?
